Developing environmental awareness is a step towards preserving nature for future generations. In the Carpathians, this idea takes on a special meaning. Every action in favor of nature is of great importance. Conducting environmental training, organizing clean-ups, and spreading information about proper behavior in natural areas are just some of the ways we can support the preservation of the Carpathians.
The health of the Carpathian ecosystems is directly related to human activity. The belief that natural resources are endless has long been outdated. The application of ecological approaches in agriculture, tourism, and forestry are just some examples of how environmental awareness can help preserve the natural resources of the Carpathians.
LET’S SAVE THE CARPATHIANS TOGETHER
By developing environmental awareness in society, we foster a responsible attitude towards the environment. In the Carpathians, there are many ways to demonstrate this responsibility. We urge local residents, organizations, and tourists to join environmental protection activities. Today’s environmental awareness is an investment in the future of the Carpathians. By joining forces, we can preserve and be inspired by this unsurpassed natural beauty that has always inspired and energized us. Let’s leave the Carpathians’ legacy as we found them – majestic, known for their diversity and harmony with the world around us.
TOURIST ETIQUETTE
Tourist etiquette, or proper behavior in natural areas. Proper behavior in natural areas is extremely important for the preservation of nature and its ecosystems.
WE DO NOT LEAVE GARBAGE
Every tourist has a responsibility to take their garbage with them. Garbage in nature is not only a potential danger to animals, but also environmental pollution. Nowadays, there are special garbage containers that can be used even in remote places.
ANIMAL LIFE IS OUR DUTY
It is forbidden to hunt, kill or catch animals. This is a violation of natural laws and can seriously harm the ecosystem. We are guests in their home, so we respect their rights.
RESPECT FOR PLANTS
Plants are the basis of life on Earth. Do not destroy them, do not break rocks and do not destroy plants, especially those that are endangered.
WATER RESOURCES
Our water bodies and rivers are the source of life. Let’s not pollute them with waste by maintaining the highest level of hygiene. It is recommended to use environmentally friendly detergents without phosphates.Rivers, lakes, waterfalls and underground springs are beautiful and very vulnerable ecosystems. To avoid harming them: Choose phosphate-free detergents. It is also good for our health. Wash ourselves and wash dishes at a distance from the water body. We leave river stones, driftwood and aquatic plants in their places.
Useful apps for smartphones
We recommend joining initiatives and projects aimed at nature conservation and environmental education. Using special mobile applications, such as EcoHike, PlantSnap, BirdID, and others, can make it much easier to visit and interact with natural areas.
Among the useful apps for smartphones:
ECOHIKE
EcoHike is an interactive platform developed by GlobalLogic that helps outdoor enthusiasts take care of the environment. The application allows you to mark the location of garbage on the map that is difficult to remove on your own. You can also search for other activists’ marks to clean up the area together.
PLANTSNAP
PlantSnap is an app that allows you to explore and identify plants using photos. You can create plant collections, share your knowledge with friends, and participate in research.
INATURALIST
iNaturalist is another app for learning about and identifying plants and animals. This app also allows you to join the global community of naturalists and explore biodiversity.
BIRDID
BirdID is an app that helps you identify bird species from their images. This is a great way for those who are interested in birds but are not a professional birder
